Senior Product Lead Data Science

Define the direction of Odido’s personalization platform and make customer journeys smarter with GenAI, ML, and data.

Odido's ambition is to become the undisputed Customer Champion of the Netherlands, with the customer at the heart of the company. To support this ambition, there is a lot of attention for improving the Customer Journey and our Maestro platform is at the heart of it!

We are looking for a rare and talented individual who sits at the intersection of product strategy and data science; someone who can both define what we build and how we make it intelligent. As our Senior Product Lead Data Science for our Personalization Platform, you will own the product vision, drive the roadmap, and apply advanced machine learning techniques to deliver highly personalized experiences at scale.

This is a senior, high-impact, cross-functional role that combines deep technical expertise with strong product leadership, ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, loves solving complex problems, and is passionate about the power of personalization. Ideally you will have approximately three to six years of experience in a Product Owner role and at least two to three years of experience in a PO role with AI, preferably in a commercial environment.

You are responsible for:

  • Defining and owning the product vision and roadmap for our personalization platform, aligning it with business goals and user needs
  • Translating complex data capabilities into clear product features and user stories that engineering, design, and business stakeholders can rally around
  • Prioritizing initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and strategic fit, making difficult trade-off decisions with confidence
  • Acting as the voice of the customer, deeply understanding user behavior and turning insights into product improvements
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, design, marketing, and commercial teams to deliver features end-to-end
  • Defining and tracklike KPIs and success metrics for the platform, ensuring continuous improvement and measurable impact

 You will also help the team to:

  • Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models that power personalized recommendations, content, pricing, or experiences (depending on your domain)
  • Build and maintain experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, multi-armed bandits) to continuously validate and improve personalization algorithms
  • Work with large-scale data to identify behavioral patterns and signals that drive personalization logic
  • Ensure data quality, model reliability, and responsible AI practices (fairness, transparency, explainability)
  • Stay ahead of the latest research and innovations in recommendation systems, NLP, and user modeling
  • Contribute to the data infrastructure and feature engineering pipelines that underpin the platform

About the team:

The position will be in the Data Science team, which is a part of the Digital IT department. We have a diverse team with people from 5 continents! On a daily basis, you will work closely with your team, consisting of Data Scientists and Data Engineers, as well as business stakeholders from our Mass Market in order to be able to understand their goals and needs.

In this role, you will have a high degree of end-to-end responsibility and be the expert when it comes to further leveraging (Gen) AI capabilities for Odido customers.

Please note:

 • English fluency is a must; Dutch is preferred
 • Candidates must currently reside in the Netherlands

We want to become the most human-centred telecom provider in the Netherlands. That might sound odd from an IT or network role, but that's exactly where it starts. Because without stable systems, a reliable network and smart technology there's no conversation, no connection, no trust. You make sure everything runs, even when nobody notices. And that's precisely the point. Even if the customer doesn't see you, your impact is felt in every conversation, every connection and every moment it just works. Because when the technology is solid, people can work, customers can be helped, and trust is built.

At Odido we're there for each other. We see each other's talents. We listen and always look at what's possible, technically, personally and in the way we work together. Because you're at your best when you can grow, Odido gives you all the space you need for that. Together we look at where your ambition and talent lie and make sure you get the opportunities to grow in your own way, whether that's deeper technical specialisation, a broader architect role, or a step towards tech leadership.

At Odido, you build and manage critical infrastructure at a national scale; ensuring reliability, performance, and security for millions of customers. You work on technology that truly matters, with a direct impact on how our network and IT services perform every day.

In return, we offer a competitive salary and a well-balanced total rewards package, including:

  • A role-based bonus aligned with your performance;
  • 30 days of annual leave (full-time), plus an extra day off after Ascension Day;
  • Hybrid working model: 3 days in the office and 2 days from home;
  • A €350 voucher to choose your own mobile phone; yours to keep;
  • A personal learning budget and access to more than 200 training courses;
  • A solid pension plan through Zwitserleven;
  • Discounts on your Odido Internet & TV or Klik & Klaar subscription;
  • A bike lease scheme for sustainable commuting;
  • Employer contribution to your gym membership;
  • Access to a wide range of discounts on products and services.

We work together to deliver stable, scalable, and future-proof technology; and we celebrate the impact we make.

In short: you build what keeps us running, your work is visible, and you’re supported to keep growing.

There are some things you can't learn at university, but they come naturally.

Your core personality is empathetic, decisive, humorous, people-oriented, authentic and honest. You know the difference between managing and coaching, and know when to apply which. You embrace challenges and are eager to learn. These are qualities we look for not only in management positions, but in every employee within our team!

Must Have's:

  • Master (WO) degree in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science
  • 3-6 years of experience as a Product Owner, preferably in a commercial organization
  • Experience with GenAI and Large Language Models (at least 2 years in an advisory/consultancy or product owner role).
  • Excellent command of English, both spoken and written. Dutch is a pre.
  • In-depth knowledge of agile working methods and extensive experience in working according to agile principles.
  • Basic Understanding working with large datasets using SQL, Spark, or similar tools
  • Experience with AWS cloud platform and ML ops practices
  • Experience with personalization, recommendation systems, or search ranking is a strong plus
  • Solid understanding of experimentation methodologies (A/B testing, statistical significance, causal inference)
  • Strong focus on results, with a background in both business acumen and high quality digital product delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and a self-driven, enthusiastic and decisive mindset.
  • A systems thinker who can zoom out to see the big picture and zoom in to solve technical detail
  • Strong ownership mentality: you define the problem, drive the solution, and take responsibility for outcomes
  • Collaborative team player who leads through influence
  • Passionate about user-centric design and the ethical use of data

Nice to Have's:

  • 3+ years of hands-on data science experience, including building and shipping ML models in production
  • Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar)

Even though we have many different colleagues, we look for a few typical Odido traits in every new team member. You need to be able to handle a changing organisation. The world of communications changes every day, and we need to grow along with it. Being naturally curious and interested in the technology we work with and the industry we're in helps enormously.

Yes, Odido offers learning opportunities and a personal development budget of up to €1,000 per year (pro-rated for part-time), to spend on relevant training in consultation with your manager.

At Odido we work with a modern tech stack in which programming languages such as Java and Python and cloud solutions play an important role. The exact technologies vary by team and role, but the focus is on scalable, data-driven and future-proof solutions.

At Odido we work hybrid. This means that as an IT specialist you work partly from home and partly in the office, depending on your role and activities. The guideline is that you are present in the office part of the week to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, and you can work flexibly from a distance the rest of the time. Working fully remote is not the standard.
